Dare to live your dream! No matter what your individual specialization is, taking the plunge into the world of freelancing can be daunting. Working as an independent contractor or consultant, is at times rewarding and frustrating. Starting from scratch, building on your ideas and skills, having a place to start is often the hardest.
It is like "ok", I am going to do this. Where do I start? It is at this point that many people freeze and don't go any further. Sometimes, picking a starting place can be as easy as this. Write down your skills and passions - you know - what are you really interested in. The ideas and skills that you have to become a freelancer. Cut the list words into individual peices, place them into a container, a hat will do. You can either do this or get someone else to do it. Mix the pieces of paper thoroughly, so you have no idea what is on top. Once mixed, reach into the container or hat and pick up a piece of paper.
Once you have the piece of paper, read what is written on it. That is a starting place. The fear of not knowing where to start is gone and you don' t have to sort through the hundreds of thoughts flowing though your head. The procrastination can be put off and your new career can begin.
As a freelancer or consultant, you are your own boss. This is something that many people, myself included find hard. It is up to us to get out of bed, source our own projects, be the financial manager, public relations expert, advertising manager, tehnical expert for the office plus the other hundred and one roles involved. Time management, stress, networking, relationships, all are up to you to develop.
Know you are not alone in your aspirations! Dare to be different and live your dreams. A starting point and action, are the key points to getting started in any endeavour.
Here is a place to vent, suggest, share your ideas and meet like minded people.
To all of you - you are important and what you have to offer is a totally unique and one of package. There is only one of you and no one else can do something the same as you. Being unique since birth has many advantages. Different insights, ideas and skills - you are worth success. Success is not always about money. Sure it helps, no one will deny that, and it can temporarily help with happiness. Love what you do and the rest will follow.
For me it is writing and helping people help themselves! What goes around comes around - cause and effect. I am no expert on one thing nor do I know the answers to everything! I have knowledge of many and master of some..topics. Open to new ideas and methods...
