Paid Navigators

Also called social bookmarkers, this refers to people who search for breaking news stories in various fields such as politics, technology, science and celebrities. Paid navigators then submit what they've found and readers can vote or comment on their submissions. Sites like Digg.Com have volunteer navigators who've been doing this for years. A few years ago, Netscape came up with the idea of hiring paid navigators which stirred up quite a bit of controversy.

In order to be a navigator you must be abreast with the latest news, a top blogger in social news sites such as Delicious and you must be quick as you are competing with a lot of people. Also, your submissions should often receive high votes and readers comment on your submissions. Those who were hired as Netscape Navigators were paid $1,000 for 150 posts or more per month. I'm not sure though if Netscape is still hiring and if they are, how much they pay their navigators.

Nevertheless, if this is something you're interested in, you may want to try sites like Reddit.Com (volunteer positions only) to start building your navigator clout.
